Ah…everyone’s favorite time of year. This year the parties may not be as big and lavish, but still, it is in those times that the best holiday memories are made. A little extra baking instead of shopping, a board game instead of the ballet, hot cocoa and good books instead of the movies. I am reminded that there is a season for everything; a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time for war and a time for peace. Whatever season you are going through right now, rest assured that you are supposed to be going through it. You can come out on the other side one of two ways: either refined by the fire, having learned some great lessons, or embittered by the experience from a lack of willingness to learn. I pray that is the former for us all!
There is a great time of change coming for Lake Family Magazine and we are so excited about it. There are some new
directions and opportunities presenting themselves and it is our season to plant a little and uproot a little. So keep an eye out for all the new interesting things taking place.
I had the pleasure of experiencing Daybreak Pediatrics first hand this past month when my eldest daughter got a very bad sore throat. In just a few minutes, we had been well examined, got a strep test, (negative thank goodness!) got some treatment and went on with our day. This is a NO BRAINER for someone who works who needs to have an acute illness treated in the early morning hours in the comfort of your own home. Thanks Kris!
We also have a special photo section this month wrapping up some great local events. Be sure to check it out. But bar none, my favorite piece this month is Inside the Garden Gate, where many of the exciting changes we are experiencing have stemmed from. They are an excellent example of market place ministry. Look for more great things from LFM and the Garden Gate in the near future.
But for now, may I just wish from our family to yours, the most loving, peace-filled Christmas ever, no matter how you choose to celebrate it. May each of your families be blessed. May your homes be filled with laughter and love and may you experience the joy of the season like never before. It has been wonderful to be part of your Lake Family this past year. We’ll be seeing you in 2010.
Love from our family to yours,
Stephanie
