The Lake County Dental Society and Lake County Health Department are once again joining to give children, between the ages of 3 – 18 yrs old, access to free dental care in celebration of the annual Give Kids a Smile (GKAS) event. The free dental screening will take place on Friday, February 27th from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm at Dr. Timothy Pruett’s office located at 15820 Dora Ave in Tavares.
To qualify, eligible families must be at or below 200% of federal poverty guidelines. A scheduled appointment is required and limited to 120 patients. A parent or legal guardian must be present at the appointment. To schedule an appointment and for financial eligibility, please call (352) 483-9184 no later than Thursday, February 19, 2009.
Observed throughout the entire month of February, GKAS is a national dental-access program initiated in 2003 by the American Dental Association (ADA). Officially observed on the first Friday of the month during February – National Children’s Dental Health Month – GKAS events occur all over Florida throughout February. The event will involve the Lake County Health Department staff and dental-team member volunteers from the Lake County Dental Society, an affiliate member of the Florida Dental Association (FDA). “The annual GKAS is a great example of the collaborative efforts of Lake County’s dentists, dental hygienists and dental assistants who join together for a common cause,” said Dr. Timothy Pruett.”
