What a summer! It was so great to take a break over summer though it hardly seemed a break at all! We sure did miss you all and we’ve been busy preparing for a super-packed first issue back. We hope you had a great summer and it seems we saw just about all of you at the 2nd Annual Family Fun Fest! What a blast! Check out the great pictures this issue of a Lake County annual event that is surely becoming everyone’s favorite! We are looking forward to another great year “hitting the books” and whether you have kids attending public, private or are homeschooled, we are wishing you the best success for a fun and productive year. We are really excited to announce the 2009 Parenting Conference held this November 7th with the well-loved and nationally known speaker Mark Hamby. We will be bringing you lots more information on this event next month with a special feature on Mark and Lamplighter Publishing! Mark your calendars now and be sure to get tickets soon as there is limited space! We are expecting a sold out event! We also want to give you a heads up on the VERY exciting new addition to the pages of LFM. The Finer Arts of Lake County will now have monthly profiling in Lake Family Magazine. There are just too many “Fine Art” happenings all over Lake County not to give them their own special spotlight. We can’t fit it all- but we are sure going to try to do our best! Check it out on page 26. And last but certainly not least, we have a very special guest for our Family Interview this month. We want to give a big Lake Family welcome to Ron Wallace of The Daily Commercial for helping us celebrate the birthday of the first newspaper published in America. We are honored to have him grace our pages and we know you will enjoy his insightful words regarding newspaper and education in our community. Sharpen your pencils and get an apple for the teacher, because here we go!
